See it on a wall
A four-armed Ganesha stands on an orange lotus pedestal within a gilded shrine: embossed golden pillars rise on either side beneath a scalloped arch, brass lamps burn at his feet, and the mottled ochre wall behind is worked to look centuries old. His crown, jewellery and dhoti are picked out in raised gold and fine pearl-white dotwork.
Why this work
The gilded pillars, arched canopy and antiqued wall belong to the Kerala mural and Tanjore temple-painting lineage, where raised gold gesso gives the deity a jewel-like, almost sculptural richness. A more opulent companion to the collection’s earlier Ganesha, and a piece made to catch the light.
